Description
Here is a ‘66’ Triumph Herald 12/ 50 in white. The car is MOT and road tax emexpt due to age, however I took it for an MOT check 21st October and for £200 of welding and a new passenger door it would pass! Put simply, the bodywork has seen better days, but my word The mechanics are tip-top!
The engine was rebuilt with new parts (Unleaded head, clutch etc receipts to prove) back in 2018, at a cost of £4700, and since has covered Circa 1500 miles - the last journey I did was 130 miles and it never missed a beat, cruising along at 60 with no issues.
The car starts every time, From cold or hot with a little choke, has been upgraded to electronic ignition, with new HT leads etc as shown in the images.
The last MOT was pass with No advisory’s, with the majority of the chassis welded back in 2012, again, MOT failure and check list to prove work was completed. The last couple of MOT’s prior to that were pass with a couple of small advisories.
The car is running brake discs on the front, with new Overhauled rear drums, including cylinders and seals.
The interior is original as I can see, and the front floor wells only have surface rust and are not rotted through as shown in pictures. The drivers seat back has lost the padding, but the passenger and bench seats are fine.
Onto the bodywork, the exterior of the car is ok for its age, although the passenger side door has come away from the frame (£80 from eBay for a new one). The cover sills could do with a refresh, and some of the bright work needs either a re-chrome or replace, however all in all for a 50 year old car it really isn’t too bad!
The car is great to drive and I just love the clean changing 4 speed gearbox, if I had the time and space I’d be keeping it, but I just don’t, so I’m hoping there is someone on here looking for a mechanically sound project that they can store somewhere and bring this car back to its former glory.
Lots of pictures available and plenty of previous MOTs and bills, including that one for £4700 Unleaded engine Rebuild in 2018.
