HERE we have a now mega-rare Vauxhall Royale 2-door coupe. She is a January 1981 model. She picked up trophies in the Opel Monza/ Royale International club's Concours d'Elegance class at Billing. In 2000, she took the Cup for 3rd best and then the year later, she took 2nd place. Trophies are with the car. However, since then it would appear that she has been mainly stored away. Her mileage at the time of trophy winning was around the 27, 000 mark and today she reads just over 28k. She has covered less than 100 miles in the past ten years and so will doubtless need some checking over before being flung back into use. I take these mileages to be 128k in reality. All the same, she must have been one belting example to have picked up these awards 20 years ago with 127, 000 miles on the clock.
Those wins came while in the keep of her second owner and he kept her until 2004 when a lady in Northampton bought her. Again, virtually no usage since then. The car itself remains in very good condition, although 20 years of no attention and being abandoned in storage naturally means that she cannot possibly be in the same condition as she was in her heyday! That said, she looks very well indeed. A real eye catcher of a coupe.
Her interior in deep velvet burgundy is just delightful. I have driven her around the yard a few time to get everything circulating and she goes through her gears (auto) fine. I do not know what re-commissioning she may or may not need due to nearly a quarter of a century in hibernation! Hence the price. Context is all. She has maybe tumbled down the leagues having once been in The Premiership!
This is a rare opportunity to acquire a model which was rare enough back in the day. Remember however that she is coming up to her 40th birthday. She is not a four-year-old car. Doubtless, she will need love and care lavishing on her. I will not be lying on the ground and taking photos at my age and she is as she is.
