We understand from a letter on file that this Spider was one of 2 owned by a hotelier in London and little used (he mostly drove the other car!) during the period 1978 – 2005 and consequently there is strong evidence to suggest that the mileage is original and with only 6 owners to date.
The Spider presents well, having been detailed and ceramic waxed. The Alfas have a reputation for corrosion but this car seems to be solid and the current owner has taken care to keep on top of work with a small repair having been professionally carried to the lower passenger door skin recently. We note very small bubbles in the paint on the lip of the bootlid but no other evidence of corrosion, either to the panels or to the underside (the Spider was waxoyl protected in 2013).
The hood is in good condition with little deterioration to the cloth and the rear window is clear. The interior has been upgraded with leather seats, black piped red, and very comfortable. The dash is in very good condition (split free, unusually) and the interior trim generally is in very good condition.
On the road she drives nicely with a nice strong engine, good oil pressure, slick gearbox (none of the usual faults), direct slop-free steering and good brakes – as an Alfa should have. The drive/ ride is smooth – and with no noises, very nice.
A good example of the S2 Spider and presenting very well. A sporty yet smooth drive on the road and with no work needed for the foreseeable future, this is an attractive proposition for anyone seeking a good – but not too good to drive – Spider. The extensive history file is an added asset.
