Unveiled to the UK market at Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2013, the XKR-S GT was a concept that somehow made it off the drawing-boards in the Jaguar design office and into production. World wide production would total just 45 units with only 10 allocated to the UK market in right-hand drive. At launch, the XKR-S GT was hailed as the fastest road-going production Jaguar by the motoring press and was extremely well received. The, already proven, XKR-S' drivetrain remained unchanged, with a 542bhp, 5-litre supercharged V8 driving the rear wheels through a six-speed automatic gearbox. The Jaguar engineers focused their attention on chassis, geometry and aero with an impressive package boasting a carbon fibre body kit, with a front splitter, dive planes, extended wheel arches and a rear diffuser all crafted from the lightweight material together with large rear wing contributing towards a claimed 145kg of downforce. Chassis and geometry had been dialled in with updates including; a 52mm wider track upfront, increased camber and revised bushings, plus ride height-adjustable Eibach dampers. The steering-rack had also been improved with a quicker ratio, borrowed from the new F-Type. New 20-inch, forged alloy wheels wrapped with Pirelli Corsa tyres offered formidable grip and stopping power was aided by carbon-ceramic brakes, a first for a Jaguar.
The result of this extensive development is a very capable and superb looking Jaguar with respectable performance figures; 0-60 takes 3. 9 seconds and the top speed is limited to 186mph. A lap of the Nurburgring in just 7min 40seconds is pretty impressive for a comfortable road car.
Offered here is the tenth UK-supplied, right-hand-drive car from the total production run of just 45 exclusive units. Delivered new in May 2015, finished in Polaris White, this example has covered just 3, 816 miles from new with the original owner and presents superbly. Offered from a private collection and benefitting from a full Jaguar service history with 7 services entries including PDI and most recently @ 3, 139 miles dated August 2020. On test, as you might expect, the car performs without fault and, once seated in the firm but comfortable sports seat, you instantly get the impression that you are in control of a powerful and focused sports car.
In summary, this is an opportunity to own a highly developed and exclusive British GT, in superb condition, a beast rarely seen in the wild with most examples sitting captive in distinguished car collections.
