History & Provenance
An exceptional example of an icon of ‘80's / 90's design & performance . One of the coolest cars ever made.
This car comes with the original brochure, Dealer stamped service manual (16 Stamps), Original handbook, leather bound Saab document wallet an HPI Certificate and 2 Saab Issued Original keys.
Supplied new in 1991 by Saab Franchised Dealers Ballamys of Sussex this vehicle has been owned by the same lady owner for the past 24 years with infrequent use in later years.
This vehicle would be at home in a collection or in the hands of an enthusiast wanting to display. It looks superb.
It is presently stored in my garage along with some of my other classics. I am a Saab fan having owned many Saabs over the last 30 years. My everyday drive is a remapped 9-5 Aero saloon.
Mechanicals
This vehicle can only be described as in remarkably smart condition for its age, a testament to its previous owner with much time, money and love being invested in it.
The car is mechanically perfect. Both engine and manual gearbox run smooth and faultlessly, it is a pleasure to drive.
Recent new parts fitted include: complete headlining, central locking motor, Electric window motor, boot struts, horn, windscreen washer pump and front shock absorbers.
New service includes full engine flush, filter and oil change less than 100 miles ago. All paperwork present.
Current Mileage is 161700.
Car passed MOT 8/ 8/ 20 with no advisories.
Car runs and drives beautifully with distinctive 16V Burble. Mileage may increase slightly as i do take it out when i have the time.
Bodywork
Unlike the much derided automatic transmission model this is the most desirable version being the 2 door manual hatchback with full Aero Body Kit.
Finished in 'Le Mans Blue' this is a very rare and desirable colour. The exterior bodywork and trim are in excellent overall condition. Bottom of doors, sills, bonnet, engine bay and wheel arches are solid
Front / back bumpers have all the silver trim present.
Retro fitted whale tail and rear vents colour matched to body.
Wheels
Very rare Saab 9000 Super Aero 16" deep dish 3 spokes that have been recently professionally refurbished in two tone by perfection alloys. Anthracite Grey face and Astral Silver rims accentuating the deep dish look. Against the body work they set the car off beautifully.
Wheels are in perfect condition with not a scratch on them.
All 4 tyres are nearly new and in excellent order with plenty of tread on them.
4 Wheel laser alignment has also been recently done.
Brakes are excellent.
I also have a set of equally rare Saab 9000 3 spoke 16" Aeros with the open lugs. They are finished in Astral silver. Buyer can choose which set they prefer on the car.
Alternatively If you prefer the iconic original 15'' Aero 3 Spokes they can also be put on and vehicle supplied at a reduced price.
I Also have a full set of Carlsson wheels, price negotiable.
Interior & Coachwork
Seats are upholstered in grey velour which is in remarkably clean condition both front and back.
The roof headlining, rear parcel shelf, boot space and rear pillars are in fresh as new condition having been retrimmed October 2020 at great expense by Roger Davies Coachworks of Birmingham.
Overall the interior is in super clean condition and is a very nice place to be.
Electrics
All electrics work perfectly including: Sunroof, Central locking to both doors and boot, fans, windows, wipers, boot light, cooling fans, radio, side mirrors. Even the cigarette lighter port and clock work.
There are No warning lights on the dash.
What it is
Low owner, HPI Clear, Mechanically and aesthetically sorted Retro Classic Vehicle that will turn heads, increase in value and is thrilling to drive both as an everyday vehicle / display at weekend shows or to keep as an investment.
What it is not
This car is not a ‘barn find' or ‘honest project’ that the previous owner will never complete or give up on due to the ridiculous amount of time and money it takes to properly resurrect an old, neglected heap.
This car is not a rusty high mileage banger with little or no history that is hiding a myriad of structural / mechanical / electrical faults that will bite you within the first week of ownership. You can find these for cheaper money depending on how many holes they have in them and what is missing / not working.
This is a Cherished vehicle. There’s nothing left to spend on, just get in, enjoy and watch values rocket.
