Finding a time-warp survivor of an early build car with a high level of options is almost unheard of with any make of make or model- let alone a muscle car: This January ’65 (registered) V8 was very highly specified with sought after period options such as rally pack, power steering, studio sonic sound, rear arm rests, wire wheels, power brakes, cruise- o- matatic and deluxe red steering wheel. With verifiable ownership history going right back, this car looks to have never suffered neglect, and in the years before it travelled here from the USA in 2005, is recorded as winning around 50 high- level awards including Antique Automobile Club of America and Motor Club of America as the voluminous history files support. Both the engine and transmission were stripped and rebuilt in 2003 and many ancillaries bear the proper Ford numbered parts which afficionados recognise as testimony to uncompromised, correct procedures. The car has continued to be cherished, and only due to age-jaded paintwork, was stripped and repainted to an exceptionally high standard 7 years ago in its original Rangoon Red. With just 71, 000 miles, major mechanicals barely run-in, superb panel fit and door closings, top-class paintwork and chrome, an exquisite and highly original Red and Black interior (even bearing its original customer-handover pack fixed to the sun visor!), this rare Mk 1 Mustang wants for nothing and is ready to be enjoyed.
