Descrizione
- A rare, stylish, and lightweight Italian sports coupe that proved to be a popular driver’s car not only in Italy but in the UK (largest export market) and even in the USA.
- Over 110, 000 were manufactured between 1973 to 1986. Specifically, the 1600 Coupe was made from 1977 to 1982.
- Bodywork styled inhouse by Aldo Castagno and Piero Castagnero as styling consultant.
- 1585cc naturally aspirated 4-cylinder petrol engine producing 99bhp at 5, 800rpm. Top speed of 109mph and a 0-60mph time of 10. 2 seconds allowing it to comfortably keep up with modern traffic. Weber carburettor.
- Front wheel driven (FWD) with a 5-speed manual gearbox. Both equipped with front and rear brake discs.
- Kerb weight of 990kg making it a light and agile car to drive through country ‘B’ roads with the aid of power assisted steering.
- Rack and pinion steering.
- Would make a suitable classic car or show car once restored to its former glory.
- From the images shown, like many Lancia’s and Italian cars built in that period, corrosion is its worst enemy unfortunately. The car has been standing for around 30 years outside in the elements.
- Rust is apparent in most places where you would expect such as sills, lip of wheel arches, tip of bonnet, boot, bottom of doors etc. The rear section is particularly fragile as the back side wings have lost rigidity and hence the boot lid is not able to close fully with the rope tied on it to prevent it lifting up. Rear light and number plate are also not in a secure fitting as you can tell.
- Drivers’ door fully opens and closes freely but passenger does not.
- The interior is in a fair condition relative to the bodywork, little evidence of dampness, dashboard and plastic trim are clean. Fabric on all four seats are ok although do show some signs of general wear and tear.
- Headlining on the ceiling is sagging.
- Instrument panel on the driver’s side consists of 8 and yes, I do say 8-gauge readings which is something of a marvel compared to ones on modern cars. They are: Battery power, fuel, speedometer, oil temperature, water temperature, rev counter, oil level and water level gauges.
- The car has covered 96, 155 miles.
- Gearbox and handbrake levers are not seized.
- Engine comfortably turns over after spending some time checking and tinkering with it, not much required to get it running.
- Suspension strut mounts at the front are not badly corroded and suspension not collapsed.
- All four wheels retain air although three have slow punctures so periodically have to be pumped including the spare wheel that is sold with the car. Only front offside tyre retains air fully.
- Car is mobile so can be easily loaded and transported.
- Two Lucas spotlights complement with front headlights.
- Current owner had used the car for daily driving, Autotest motorsport competitions, achieving notable success and gatherings for Lancia Motor Club owners at selected venues evidenced by the club sticker on the front nearside windscreen during the late 1980s and early 90s.
- Rear section of exhaust pipe was taken off as current owner originally had plans to replace it, but other priorities had taken over.
- Ignition turns over nicely and steering is unlocked.
- Car is supplied with own Haynes manual book, the book itself is in good condition considering it is from 1981. Has all of the pages, none are ripped, only slight wear and tear as you would expect for a used 40-year-old book.
