- A PRIME EXAMPLE PORSCHE 996 TURBO READY FOR THE ROAD
Porsche introduced the 996 in 1999 as the continued development of the 911 models.. The biggest change from the classic 911 series was the switch to a water-cooled engine block in-place of the traditional air-cooled cylinders. The 996 models also featured wider bodywork and redesigned lighting. The Turbo as compared to the base Carrera was wider yet and included side air intakes, side skirt extensions, and aerodynamic bumpers. Power is being created by a twin-turbocharged 3. 6-liter flat-six (factory rated at 415 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque) paired with a six-speed manual transaxle. Keep in mind the 996 Turbos have the Metzger motors and did not have the engine bearing issues.
