1939 Dodge D12 Six rare
Right Hand drive vehicle built in Detroit USA.
The D12 was an export model built using the front clip from the Plymouth. Most were built in Canada particularly if right hand drive. This vehicles body number indicates it was built in Detroit.
It was exported on rubber to South Africa in 1939. The car has some interesting features these include Canadian dash trim, it is floor shift, has original lights and chrome, interior has at some time in the past been refurbished in tan vinyl. This is highlighted with burgandy trim.
The vehicle is in good overall condition and is fitted with a six cylinder side valve Plymouth engine as per original . As far as can be ascertained the drivetrain is original.
The vehicle has real presence it still features original working twin horns, some instruments have been updated in keeping with the originals. Window seals have been renewed. Interior is very tidy with lovely wood effect painted dash and window surrounds.
This is a rare and exciting vehicle due to the fact it was built in Detroit, it preceded the advent of an assembly plant in South Africa in 1941 so was a true import. A rare opportunity to own a beautiful vehicle. The vehicle has been converted to 12 volt and all wiring has been renewed in the past. It is not a concourse car, rather a true drivable classic.
