This is "Dorf". My totally blank canvas classic 508d.

I spent a long time looking for the right one for my needs with the intention of building a true off grid home on wheels to drive around the world.
But I've decided to downsize due to medical reasons.
So he's for sale with absolutely all of the parts I've gathered for the build which I'll list at the bottom.

He's a 1985 model and is Already registered as a "motor caravan". Having been pampered for most of his life he has, even now only done 115000 kilometres (74, 000 miles!) And drives as new.
As soon as I purchased him he had a full brake rebuild with new shoes, cylinders ect all round. A new battery and a new pair of front tyres.

Though I have no proof, the previous owner told me he was originally bought by the BBC as an outside broadcast support vehicle. The only sign that that may be the case is the original paint being visible in some places is 80's BBC livery blue.

I had him mot'd last month and as expected sailed through.

I am a welder fabricator so I've done the bodywork myself, but there is still some left to do, mainly two small (ish) strips along the bottom of the windscreen, a small hole behind one of the body rubbing strips on the driver’s side and the lower skirt a bit further back from the driver’s door (single skin and only asthetic). For the windscreen job it will need the glass removing, but never fear I've prepared for that and have got included a new screen rubber. In-fact I've got all the rubber for the whole van, which leads me to the rest that's included.

Full length wind-out awning (1 small hole pictured). Along with the winding handle…..

Passenger swivel seat (lift off and turn round type).

Large LPG tank fitted and still plumbed in with two outlets (empty) and filling adapter.

Two new already fitted Heiki roof vents with built in blind and fly screens.

The cab mat is near mint condition (comes with alloy edge trims but not fitted)
The cab floor has been painted with anti-rust black and then dodo mat hex sound deadening. The engine dog has also been extra lined with more sound deadening.
The original headlining is included but not refitted as I removed it to fit the insulation.
I have also plated the lips on the roof as it was leaking and it is now water tight and I have also red oxide painted any rusty spot inside.
I have also recently dropped the fuel tank and washed it out and cleaned the tank pre filter and cleaned the contacts on the fuel gauge sender (the reason for dropping the tank).

He also comes with a fortunes worth of spares/ parts etc that I've gathered up over the last two years ready for the full build, including....

Supplied by Mr Merco,
Full set of screen and “triangle” rubbers.
Wind up window rubbers.
Enough correct type door/ draught rubbers to do the whole van.
New rear lamp lenses,
A new set (and an extra) front indicator lenses.
Newer style side indicator lenses.
Full complete engine gasket set.
Oil and fuel filters.
Good second hand water pump (not needed but wanted one on board for global travel)
New Fan belt, gear stick gaitor, “bosch” style spare ignition key.

Also included, is a brand new half sized Belfast style sink, chromed mixer tap, plug fittings.
4 brand new cassette style opening windows with internal surround and built in blind and fly screen to the correct sizes to replace the current windows (a small fortune in themselves)

Enough 2k paint and hardener for a few coats over the whole van (was going for British racing green body and old English white roof).

Three massive rolls of closed cell foil backed self-adhesive insulation (some of it dodo matt)
More than enough brand new still boxed slot together laminate oak effect flooring.

Also a large box of extra bulbs, fixtures and fittings and spares.

He’s an absolute gem of a truck and anyone who has driven one will know how much fun they are, and how easy they are to drive. Just don’t expect to go fast.

Obviously any interested parties would want to come and view him, your more than welcome to with a day or so’s notice. As he is not taxed any test drive would be along the farm track from where he is parked. He is located half a mile from home which is a few minutes north of Buckingham, near Silverstone circuit.
Cash on collection or cleared bank transfer only please, I am also obviously open to a near offer. But please no low ball chancers. You’ve read this far so you probably know how cool and special these busses are, and this is one of the good ones, not a filler full rot box (it’s as good as 40 years old, so it’s going to need a little bit of welding.

A note for the youngsters, you probably know this if you’re here, but if you passed your driving test after (I think) 1997, you WILL need category “C1” on your driving license. This is for vehicles up to 7. 5ton. Dorf is plated 5. 2ton (max). it is possible to down plate it to 3. 5 so you can drive on a car licence but pretty pointless. So please only make contact if you already have or intend to take your test. I did it and its very straight forward, but an extra cost to consider none the less.
