Description

This first generation Range Rover left the factory in 1972 and initially went to Switzerland, after which it was acquired by the current owner in the Netherlands. He then subjected the car to a very thorough restoration. The full bodywork was sandblasted and subsequently flame-sprayed. Because of the application of zinc and aluminium, followed by a special primer, the bodywork is still in outstanding condition after these years. The coating is in excellent condition and the bottom sections of the bodywork are in exhibition condition. The restoration is fully documented and the Range Rover has been carefully looked after in the decades since. The owner has made a number of technical modifications to improve the driving experience, enabling a highly enjoyable drive that is in accordance with the original design. The engine as well as all the engineering around it are in 100% top condition, and the car drives flawlessly on both petrol and LPG.

The car is painted in the highly sought after Range Rover Brooklands Green and the interior, which is also in flawless state, is fitted with Palomino brown leather. The Range Rover is one of the most luxurious cars from its inception. Although the off-road driving capabilities are of paramount importance, as can be expected from Land Rover, the car has proven to be popular in diverse settings across the world.
Like the original Series Land Rover, this Range Rover has been built on a ladder-type chassis. However, it uses a spiral spring suspension instead of a blade spring suspension, features permanent four-wheel drive, has disc brakes all around and is powered using an aliminium Rover V8 engine with 3528 cc. The naming is confusing to some, as the brand name of the car is Land Rover while the model name is Range Rover.

Lastly, a few interesting facts from the 70s: in 1972 the Range Rover was the first vehicle that completed a 30, 000 km Trans American expedition by the British Army. In this journey it crossed the dangerous Darien Gap in South America, among other locations. In 1974 this success was followed up by an epic 12, 000 km crossing of the Sahara in a mere 100 days.
