For sale is my Matchless G3L. It was registered new in the UK on 21 Dec 1949. Frame number 39647. Engine number 49/ G3L 11061B. It has the original continuation buff log book which shows only 6 owners from new, all in the Hull area. Legendary bike restorer and engineer, Adrian Reed bought the bike from the last owner on 20 May 1980 and carried out a high quality restoration over the next few years with the bike getting an MOT in 1995. It was taxed and tested every year until 2007. It was sold as part of his estate by Bonhams in October 2018. I bought the bike in 2019. The engine and frame numbers match the original log book and are clearly stamped and have been verified by the VMCC. It has the original Amal 276 carb which has been cleaned and re-jetted. The original Burnham gearbox shifts through the gears easily. The speedo has been changed and currently reads 94202 miles but this is highly unlikely to be correct. The last 6 MOT's have the mileage at 22355. which looks right for engine wear etc. The bike is in very good condition with only a couple of small marks in the paintwork. I had the bike fully recommissioned in summer 2021 by a local British bike expert. New tyres (Avon), new battery, timing checked, speedo recalibrated and generally checked over. It ran beautifully until October when it wet sumped while left in the garage, currently therefore a non runner. I have videos of the bike running sweetly before this. It is a genuine, low mileage bike and a real beauty. The rigid bikes are getting harder to find, particularly in this condition and with the correct paper work to back up it's provenance.
