Fairmont Sports & Classics are big fans of Lotus having sold many different iterations of these iconic British sports cars over the years, but this stunning Lotus Elan +2s is possibly the finest example of the marque we have seen to date.
Originally registered in 1973, this car lived for many years in the warm and dry climate of Greece, which has no doubt contributed to this car remaining in such fine fettle.
An extensive history file accompanies this car, which we understand was restored by her enthusiast owner in 2019, with parts invoices totaling over £10, 000 giving a clear indication as to the depth and quality of the restoration.
Also contained within the file are the official FIA papers relating to the cars use in Greece and a recent invoice dated October 2021 from well know performance car specialist Jasmine Porschalink totalling over £1500 for general fettling and improvements.
The quality of the bodywork is first class with tight, consistent shut lines to all panels, whilst the silver over light metallic blue paintwork is exceptional with a flawless deep gloss finish.
The interior is finished in light grey and compliments the exterior perfectly, whist the quality of the trimming is top draw. The wooden dashboard is a classic British affair being stocked with an array of toggle switches and Smiths gauges, giving a wonderful period feel to the snug cockpit.
Under the bonnet lives the legendary 1558cc Lotus twin cam engine which presents beautifully having been finished to the same exacting standard as the rest of the car.
Breathing through a pair of Dellorto carburetors, this high revving mechanical masterpiece sounds fantastic and pulls this featherweight sports car towards the horizon with real vigor, whilst in true Lotus tradition the car handles with real poise whilst riding the bumps of your average British B road with almost magical smoothness.
Finding a 1973 Lotus Elan +2s in this condition is a very rare find, and we feel you will be hard pressed to find a better example, and naturally we are happy for you to inspect the car on our ramps or have the car independently inspected.
