Description
Suzuki gt500 1978, outstanding condition. In 2003 this bike went through a full, no expense spared, ground up restoration using all original suzuki parts.
it was later sold and in 2019 the new owner decided to take it a step further. It was discovered at this point the frame had a poorly welded repair to the rear shock mount resulting in a 10mm misalignment.
the owner, being an aircraft engineer and absolute perfectionist would accept nothing less than a replacement frame.
a second hand frame was bought and the bike was rebuilt, again no expense spared.
it then had to go through a dvsa test and once passed off was assigned its own new, unique dvla frame number in feb 2020, this was stamped onto the headstock replacing the original manufacturer's number. (sadly this was done after the frame had been powder coated but its a barely visible blemish).
i have a box file of history to support the authenticity of this bike including;
both log books
mot's going back to 1990
bills for parts 2003/ 4 totaling over £6000, then many more since
photographs
2nd best in show certificate
hand written notes
the original frame
and too much more to list
the simplest and quickest way to list the parts on this bike are to list the ones which aren't new which is basically the gearbox.
full engine rebuild including;
rebore
complete crank rebuild
nrv's in oil lines
vapour blasted
loom, coils, cdi, etc
the list goes on and on.
the 1990 mot states 11384 miles and after the clocks were restored and reset to zero in 1994 they're currently showing 9120 miles but since the bike is basically brand new i think this is irrelevant, the engine has only done 54 miles and will therefor need running in (may go up a little).
so to summarise, a 1978 mint condition gt500 which has been reframed and stamped accordingly so on the new logbook it states ;
first registered 2020
no previous owners
assembled from parts some of which were not new
the bike was originally on an s registration and is now on an age related p registration
it's registered as historic so therefor tax and mot exempt.
any questions welcome, viewing recommended. Sensible offers will be considered. Thankyou.
