The production 106 was used in its 1300 Rally and 1600 Rally variants as the basis for various car competitions. Two different versions were used in racing, one in Group N compliance (almost standard with minor modifications) and one in Group A compliance with higher modifications and performance.
Since 2014, the 1300 and 1600 vehicles, despite the expired homologation, fall into the normal categories (Group N and Group A).
