Description
When Jaguar introduced the E-Type at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1961, it caused wild enthusiasm. Technically advanced, fast and beautiful as a goddesse with its long, low body and – significantly for the Series 1 – the covered headlights and high mounted taillights mounted above the bumper. Enzo Ferrari is quoted for saying ”this must be the most beautiful sports car produced”. In 1964, the model was updated with a 4. 2 liter engine, better gearbox with synchronization on all gears, as well as better seats.
With the E-Type, Jaguar turned all its success and fame from the racing tracks of the world with the famous C- and D-type racers into a glamorous and extremely drivable sports car for normal street use. This made the E-Type a true icon, and became a symbol of the happy 1960s. It has since been woted the world’s sexiest car and is now one of the most coveted classic cars.
The popularity of the E-Type led many cars to be exported to the very large market in the USA, and this is where this example comes from as well. The car is a Series 1 4. 2 liter OTS version, complete with the correct 3 SU carburetors. In 1995 the car was sold to Sweden, where it undergoes a complete restoration finalized in 2005. Now the car has arrived in Denmark, where it has just received a full service. With the car of course comes the official Heritage Certificate, documenting the car as being a full matching numbers car, only change is the original color Opalscent Silver Blue has now been changed to classic British Racing Green. Today the car still looks great and it drives eminently. It has be used so gently and done so few kilometers, that all the final adjustments that inevitably follow after a complete restoration, now has been corrected and put in place. Now this coveted model is offered at an attractive price, ready to be enjoyed this summer. LHD.
