an outstanding example presented in helios blue - the colour to have back in the day and with the
15" bbs cross spoke rims of the day too. The temptation to meddle or change anything on the car
has been wholly resisted. This high degree of originality is not often found on cars nigh on 30 yrs
old. It has been kept by the same family since it was 6 months old.
it has a large history file with everything dating right back to around new. Includes historic
correspondence such as vehicle warranty details and dept. Of transport number transfers when new.
every single mot from 1991 forth, a bundle of tax discs and four keys.. and all is nice and clean, the
car included.
service booklet detailing historic engine services is present and with 20 entries
the previous keeper has known of this gti since it was nearly new. It belonged to his brother then
older sister and has essentially been a family hand down. It has lived in market rassan all of its
life.

exterior condition
an original survivor so examination of all the gaps and crevices will reveal a wholly original example.
it has been kept garaged for most if it's life. It has had paint here and there but overall, it's superb and
will suit a gti enthusiast. There is no rust around the edges, it does have the odd age related mark, but i
wouldn't say it's needs paint anywhere. All the rubber and exterior plastics are in near spotless order and
all is highly detailed and well presented. This is a nice clean old gti.
cabin
the interior is clean fresh and bone dry and has the feel of a much younger for interior with good dash,
only minor sag to the headlining, good door cards, chairs that look great and immaculate carpets. Next to
no wear at all to any switchgear, golf ball gear knob is present with good gaiter etc. In reality these
interiors were designed to absorb miles. It's pretty much immaculate throughout, nothing worn damp, tatty
or broken. It still has it's original set of factory rubber mats present and complete. The original stereo
has been replaced with a 90's sony one otherwise everything else in here is all wonderfully original stock
vw gti and exactly how it should be.
alloys/ tyres
matching new pirelli tyres all round fitted very recently with clean rims that have a lovely finish. The
bbs alloys set the car apart, rarely seen now, they have an appeal all of their own..
the drive
it sits well and rides with no clunks or knocks just a solid firm and well absorbed drive. Having
owned a few i can comment that all old engines drive differently. It's all totally stock but it's really
well fettled and has lots of torque in any gear at any time.
this is an all systems go car ready to be enjoyed when the mood and the weather allows. The car moves as
one whole solid piece, perhaps even better than i remember reaffirming that subsequent generations have
robbed the gti of its dynamic feel and driver enjoyment. So if you want practicality, performance and
strength in one affordable package, few cars will deliver like the mk2 gti and is easily the most
practical and sensible everyday modern classic in its price range.
