Description
I’ll start with the interior of the car which is particularly good with near perfect door cards and leather seats.
The original load area cover is still present and working which is pretty rare, I also have an original dog guard which clips up out of the way when not in use.
The exterior, as can be seen in the pictures is pretty good too, it is however a 27 year old car so there are a few little dinks and stone chips etc.
Below is a list of things done and parts replaced over the last three or four years, not necessarily because they all needed doing but to make sure the car would be as good as it could be. I have receipts for everything in a huge file with parts invoices and hand books etc, literally thousands have been spent.
(These are in addition to normal maintenance work)
Gearbox flushed and oil renewed.
Brand new power steering rack, including track rod ends.
Lower arms replaced and all rubber bushes on the front.
New lesjofors road springs all round, and Bilstein B4 Dampers front and rear.
New discs and pads all round, calipers rebuilt with new seals, pipes and fluid.
17" genuine Volvo Tethys alloys.
All Season Tyres (Particularly good in the snow)
Complete exhaust system renewed including the catalytic converter and all new mounts.
Brand new complete turbo fitted with adjustable boost pressure - currently 10psi.
Reconditioned balanced injectors.
New fuel pressure regulator, knock sensor and temperature sensor.
High capacity upgraded fuel pump and filter.
New in tank lift pump
Brand new distributor - complete.
HT leads, plugs and coil.
Air, oil and cabin filters.
Long-life coolant.
New Air conditioning Condenser. (Air Conditioning isn’t working, it needs two small jobs to rectify which are listed below)
New heavy duty battery.
New front and rear lights/ lenses and all new bulbs.
Rear axle bushes.
Cigarette lighter replaced with a usb charger for your tablet or phone with in built voltage display.
There are two sets of keys including two working remotes for the alarm and central locking.
All these parts have been replaced by myself and the previous owner so some of the serviceable items do have some wear and tear.
I believe there are only three things that now need attention on the car, those being the passenger heated seat doesn’t work and neither does the cruise control and as mentioned earlier, the air conditioning isn’t working, I have replaced the condenser and a hose from the pump to the drier, it now needs a small section of steel pipe repaired and a low pressure switch.
That tailgate rattles a bit, mainly when it’s cold as it looks like the little retaining blocks have gone hard, I think this is quite common on these though as my Celebration model does it toobut I think this one is exacerbated by the sportier suspension, it’s worth it for the superb handling though :-)
Compared to my 940 Celebration, this one goes and handles extremely well, embarrassing many so called hot hatches :-)
I had intended developing this car further as my weekend fun car, but another one of my cars has become extremely needy so this one has got to go unfortunately.
