Here we have a rather rare bit of kit, the mk2 volkswagen jetta, even more rare as its the tx model with the 1. 6 litre 72bhp engine combined with the 5 speed gearbox as fitted from the factory. The tx model was released as the middle ground between the standard model and the gt spec. As well as having the higher bhp 1. 6 engine and gti'esq black exterior trim, it was also fitted with the upgraded sports interior reminisent of the golf gti upholstery. I have not been able to find another 1. 6 tx model advertsied online anywhere in the uk.
this is a uk supplied car from new, not an import which makes its condition all the more impressive. I would go as far as to say she looks even better in the 'flesh' than she does in the photos. Of which i have 30+ photos i can send to prospective purchasers upon request via whatsapp. Everything appears to be original in terms of bodywork and paintwork, door shuts, inner arches, boot floor, battery tray, strut tops, sills, interior trim etc right down to even having the original radio! The owners over the years have taken seriously good care of her and it shows. The current mot runs until 05/ 10/ 22 with no advisories.
the interior is immaculate. Door cards, headlining, carpets and trim ect all in fine fettle. The upholstery to the seats is nigh on perfect. The rear seats don't look like they've ever been sat in and there isn't even any wear to the drivers seat boulster.
to drive? im having trouble putting it into words how this car makes me feel when driving her. special comes to mind but doesn't quite cut it. she starts, runs, accelerates, handles and drives so well both my dad and i thought the original engine had been swapped out for a fuel injected model!! she starts so cleanly first turn of the key cold in the mornings, idles hilariously well, the power is on tap all through the rev range, very encouraging to drive, super responsive, excellent feel to the steering, great gearbox and clutch combination etc. in fact i have an 1990 rx7 turbo, 1993 saab 900 turbo, chrysler 300c 5. 7 hemi but its the jetta i would choose for a sunday drive around the country roads and to car shows. That's how good it is.
so there we are! a 1986 volkswagen jetta tx 1. 6, 5 speed manual, 72bhp, low miles, incredible condition inside and out, excellent to drive, starts on the button, guaranteed to put a smile on your face as well as being practical. well worth travelling to view, we certainly don't think you will be disappointed.
