I bought cadbury in april 2019 and quickly became a loved family member. I have given cadbury a lot of tlc, serviced it within an inch of its life
rare chance to own this little series 1
i use it as often as i can as i love driving it and cadbury does not like being left sitting for too long. Cadbury's very practical as it's a 5 door and the boot is massive compared to my mini and could be used everyday if wanted
there is far too much to mention so i will do my best to shorten it for you. Main thing i did was convert it from automatic as the auto box leaked like a seive, not to mention bloody noisy! So after sourcing the parts over time in went a 5 speed manual which was a mission in itself and now cadbury can drive much greater distances as it's a lot quieter and more refined. Obviously has a new sach's clutch while it was apart
electronic ignition conversion, new cambelt, full service, xenon headlight bulbs and loom upgrade, 5 new tyres, new clutch, coolant flushed and renewed, new coil pack, new ignition leads, new fuel lines compatible with e10 fuel, new coolant hoses, rare weber conversion for 1500cc, brake system completely overhauled, suspension overhauled, period ivory sun blind fitted & new locks 1 key fits all.... i could go on and on about the things it's had done
has mot until 1st may 2022 even though it is mot and tax exempt but still worth doing just in case
benefits from some really rare parts and original features, really amazing condition for the age. The headlining is really nice as well as the rest of the interior with minimal wear n tear, the underside of the car is pretty clean with no signs of rot. The engine bay could be mint with a little effort as it's already in amazing condition. There is loads of spares and some quite rare bits to keep cadbury going.
i have taken some high quality pitures and a walk around video but there is no comparison to viewing in person so come and view to make your own mind up. It's garaged out of the weather so even if it's dark outside you can still see it.
there are the odd marks on the bodywork and some light surface rust creeping in but it's all superficial really by the looks of it. Only other drawback is no service history apart from the stacks of part receipts and service/ invoices i have gathered since owning. I have the original instruction manual, haynes manual and gls brochure
the original radio stopped working (included) and i have bought another period philips radio cassette but not yet fitted. So you have the choice but currently fitted is a sony bluetooth system
the previous owner owned cadbury for an incredible 38 years... she was the second owner and i am the third. She said she bought it from her boss in about 1981 who had it as a company car.
