A fabulous example, in very nice order indeed. Finished in the great colour combination, gleaming red with ivory period interior. She presents very well. 1 of only 4, 648 Auto 455 Firebird Trans Ams made that year. Born in Norwood, Ohio. The Build sheet is present, as is the original engine and transmission, and all the features of the Trans Am performance package. It was the fastest production car in the US that year. One owner in the US before being shipped to the UK in 1978 and resided with them until purchased by current owner in 2014. Clearly this car has been much loved. The car was restored circa 20 years ago by breaking another 1974 for body parts (a new front and rear quarter), painted in the original DuPont paint colour Buccaneer Red and even the Phoenix is an original GM part. The car is genuinely original. Floor pans have never been welded. An original exhaust system is fitted. The door handles on the outside have an insert telling you the car has a custom interior. The seats have been restored by an expert and the original carpet is in excellent condition. The original Radio and 8 track tape deck are present which works and has been overhauled and comes with over 20 tapes to listen too! Everything down to the wheel, trim, decals are all factory correct. Only 943 super duty trans am were made that year but the previous owner had period modifications done to bring the car nearer super duty spec :- up-rated performance crank- Rochester QJet carb with slightly bigger flow metering needles- distributor kit which was supplied by HO racing to improve timing accuracy the unnecessary pipework and gadgets for USA road use compliance were removed by Steve Thompson Autos soon after the car was bought in 78which is why the previous owner put SD 455 on the shaker hood. All the paperwork and history documentation is present and even the original import papers. It's a little bit of a time machine and comes with lots of original Pontiac paperwork, GM workshop manual, Ficher body manual, period tuning book, both the original keys and red spare keys are present on period Trans-Am keyrings, an original brochure from 74 showing all the options, and the owner's manual. This year the brakes have been overhauled with a new master cylinder and compensator and 2 years ago a new starter motor was fitted, all supplied by Robin Gray at Auto Pontiac. The 2 front coil springs were replaced at different times years ago. You won't find a cleaner better documented TA in the UK.
