THE APPEAL
The Land Rover 90/ 110/ Defender series is an enduring legend that is loved by enthusiasts all over the world. Strong, characterful and instantly recognisable, they’re also extremely popular vehicles to modify and improve.
This one is a fabulous thing – rebuilt to the owner’s specification and subject to a recent repaint, it’s in lovely order and looks absolutely fantastic. It’s been fitted with a Rover V8 under the bonnet, an uprated gearbox (recently rebuilt) and has been converted from a station wagon to an extremely funky soft-top. It’s a terrific example that’s bound to attract plenty of bidding interest.

THE HISTORY AND PAPERWORK
• Restored and rebuilt over past 3-4 years
• UK registered with full V5C
• Invoices and details of work carried out by specialists
• MOT December 2022
The vendor had the Land Rover restored to be used by his son, but the truck is now surplus to requirements. It has a current MOT, two sets of keys, a UK V5C, a recent history file on work carried out and contact details of garages involved - Hardy Engineering and Fastlane. There are two spare alloy wheels and sundry parts, books and manuals. The chassis number has been checked and it comes with a document detailing it as a Land Rover Defender V8, which should make it viable for export to the USA.

THE INTERIOR
• Retrimmed
• Good overall condition
• Upgraded stereo

Inside, the 90 presents very well with a retrimmed cabin and uprated stereo system. It is in very good overall condition, with only some very minor wear to the seats and the usual small cracks to the dashboard, as found frequently on older 90s and 110s.
It has a new full carpet set through and new seatbelts all round (front belts in red). A battery cut off switch has been fitted for extra security. A Safety Devices (original Land Rover specification) roll cage for the full length of the vehicle is fitted with Safety Devices padding to the frame along with a Land Rover fire extinguisher and a centre cubby box.

THE EXTERIOR
• Restored and painted by Rolls-Royce specialist restorer
• Excellent chassis
• Lovely paint finish
• US-spec rear bumper
• New mohair hood
This is a wonderful looking 90 with smart white paintwork. The restoration was entrusted to Fastlane Bodyworks, a well-regarded specialist that is known for restoring Rolls-Royces and Bentleys, so the quality of the workmanship is excellent.
There are hardly any flaws in the body, although there is some paint flaking on the alloy wheel centres that a future owner may choose to get refurbished. It has North American-spec rear bumpers and a brand-new mohair hood, while the lights have been upgraded to feature LED lamps all-round. It has also had a new windscreen rubber and a new rear spare wheel carrier fitted along with a new towbar and rear tyre.

THE MECHANICS
• 3. 5 V8 with four-barrel Holley carbs
• Rebuilt LT85 five-speed transmission
• Brake rebuild by Challenger 4x4
• Lots of new parts
The engine is a 3. 5-litre Rover V8 with Holley four-barrel carburettor and an Offenhauser manifold, Lumenition ignition system including coil, Magnecore ignition leads, NGK plugs and a Facet red top electric fuel pump. It also has stainless steel exhaust manifolds and a full stainless exhaust system. Recently, it has been given a new water pump, thermostat, viscous coupling and radiator, filled with Land Rover long life coolant. There’s also a new starter motor. Runs on unleaded petrol.
The LT85 gearbox and transfer box have been fully rebuilt with new shafts and bearings and a complete new clutch kit. All this work was done by Hardy Engineering. The front and rear differentials were also fully rebuilt with new driveshafts front and rear. Both front swivel joints have been replaced. The brakes, front and rear, have been replaced with new front guards, discs and pads, and new shoes to the rear.

SUMMARY
This is a great 90 and one that has been rebuilt with no expense spared to the exceptionally high standard you see it in today. It’s also eligible for export to the USA, which will increase its overall desirability.
It wants for nothing and looks fantastic – a rare opportunity to get your hands on a fully restored Land Rover in incredible condition, and with the added appeal of V8 power.
