For sale 1956 Matchless 500 single in need of total restoration, or for parts but I'm not breaking it for parts. The bike has been stored in a dry location since about 1989 which is when I bought it. When I bought the bike I was told the engine had been completely re-built and I did get the engine running in around 1992. Since then I've just kicked it over regularly. (I. e. not seized). Has jam pot shockers, most of the original cycle bits like mudguards, etc are present. Tappet cover is missing and some electrical switches, etc. I intended to restore the bike fully on retiring but my circumstance at present won't allow that. Would make a great project for somebody. The bike was registered in May 1956 as 500 cc, but the number on the engine places the engine as a 1953 500 cc G80 engine. It does have a working centre stand, I took the timing chain cover off to check the timing when I started the engine. It has 45, 123 miles on speedo that may or may not be correct. Seat restored.
