1989 Austin Mini. This car is a Rose, although you’ll struggle to see that now! The previous owner found this car in a sorry state in Hull, and set about restoring it to create their own ideal Mini. It now sports a 1275 A+ Metro engine providing very healthy performance, 12” wheels with Falken tyres, front disc brakes, Cooper stripes, spotlights, and a Mini 30 interior – complete with wood dash and auxiliary gauges, and half leather seats in good condition.
The car drives very well, and pulls very strongly, it’s an absolute hoot on a back road, but at the same time is capable of cutting its way at motorway speeds, truly a usable classic.
Work in the last two years include a new RC40 Maniflow Exhaust system, fuel hoses, front brake lines, brake shoes, battery cover and isolator, boot shelf, thermostat, wipers and arms, and a full service with correct transverse engine oil, new plugs and filters with receipts to prove. The car has a full 12 months MOT on it as of May 2022. Please feel free to check the history, F338 CKH. 74, 000 miles is shown on the odometer, but can’t be verified.
Bodywork is in good condition, please see pictures of seams and other usual areas where a Mini is likely to rot. Paintwork is presentable and shines and photographs very well, but is a home paint job from the previous owner and is not of show quality. There is a flat area on the nearside wing which I have attempted to photograph.
This car has been built to a very desirable specification with all of the features most people look for in a nippy Mini. Values of the Mini Rose are also increasing, so the potential to restore back to original in the future could be profitable for a future owner. I’ve owned this Mini for the last two years, I’m only selling to fund the purchase of a once in a lifetime prewar car.
