This magnificent Touring bodied spider was manufactured in October 1960 and despatched to Athens in Greece where it spent its life until being imported into the UK in 2014. Professionally restored to a high standard some years ago it has recently been recommissioned after a period in storage. The car has really excellent body work with good panel fit and superb paintwork in Blu Sera Metallizato, a dark red almost oxblood leather interior (nicely worn in after a few years of use) and a black mohair hood - the whole set off with a new set of Borrani wheels.
Improved for modern day driving with uprated headlamps, an alternator, seat belts and Weber 40 DCOE carburettors rather than the standard Solex. The Weber conversion is particularly neatly done with an OKP Conrero style inlet manifold and an Alberto Girola plenum chamber thus retaining the original under bonnet appearance which is usually lost on those cars running on Webers.
Work this year includes new Borranis and Michelin X tyres, new chrome work, re-cored radiator, new fuel regulator and all new hoses. Documents include an Alfa Romeo Certificato Di Origine, an FIA passport and a UK V5.
A much better car in my view than the 2600 version of this series being lighter to handle and a better all round balance between ride and handling. Delightful to look at and driving very well it is a pleasure to own. Available for viewing in Leamington Spa.
