Genuine Escort Mk1 RS1600 Custom which we are advertising on behalf of a customer. The current owner has owned this car since 1999. He is only the 4th owner of the car. Its known to the AVO owners club and the RS1600 Registrar. Its a genuine car which was restored a good number of years ago. It runs and drives very well and is ready to be used. This is a very tidy example but if you want a 100 point concourse car then it may not be the one for you. There is a large history file which comes with the car detailing previous owners, photos of the restoration and receipts for everything spent.
Body - The owner states that this is the cars original shell with original wings, and in the main the original panels. This is the cars original colour. It was restored in the early 2000s and painted back in 2008 and hasnt needed any further paintwork since. Underneath is all body colour. There has been repairs underneath in the past but its solid and needs nothing doing at the moment. If you were super critical then some of the previous repairs would need redone. Paintwork is very nice and car presents very well. In the history file there are lots of pics of the car being taken back to bare metal during the restoration process. Webasto sunroof fitted.
Mechanics - Original Engine which was rebuilt during 2006. There is a comprehensive receipt for everything that was done totalling £4100. Its got BD3 cams, elec ignition, competition bearings, balanced flywheel and crank, high pressure oil pump and more. The owner states that its still running its original Weber Carbs. Its the correct gearbox which was again rebuilt and theres a receipt for that as well. The car starts runs and drives as it should. The clutch and brakes are all good. The rev counter is a little lazy to get going but bursts into life after a few revs. According to the history file its got 140BHP at 7000 rpm.
Interior - Correct 140 mph clocks, steering wheel changed to a Springalex item. new carpet. Owner states that the front seats were from an RS1800. Very tidy inside and needs nothing doing.
Wheels - 7" JBW replica wheels with Yokohama 175/ 50/ 13 tyres.
This is a genuine example with low owners and good history. Its not perfect but if it was it would be a more expensive. Other current cars I can see for sale are 75K, 85K and 120K.
