And yes it is exactly the same colour inside and out as John Shuttleworth’s and is a bonafide ‘Y’ reg, possibly the only one left?
This is now officially one of the rarest cars in the UKwith only around 10 left on the road. It’s just passed its last ever MOT with total ease and will be Road Tax exempt next year as will be 40 years old so formally classified as a classic car .
It is in remarkable original condition for its age. It has only done 22k miles and has been kept undercover since new. It starts with ease and drives really well with the 2l BL O series engine. It in no way feels underpowered and in my opinion is a similar fun drive to an MGB. There is plenty of paperwork, an original BL operating manual and a Haynes manual included.
The car has never had a re-spray so it is extremely honest. The underneath is incredibly solid and was professionally undersealed in 2020. There are a fe areas of surface rust that could do with curing. The engine bay is amazingly clean.
The interior is exceptional for its age as the dashboard and seats are usually heavily sun damaged and beyond repair. Also the wing mirrors are usually perished and worn beyond repair with replacements very hard to find. The ones on this are as good as they get!
It’s had a retro looking blue tooth radio fitted so a phone can be connected for Sat Nav, music etc. Also included is the original radio. Other than that the car is amazingly original.
The only thing we’re aware of left on the ‘to do’ list is to get the front suspension gas topped up. The reason we’ve not round to it is that it drives and handles really well as it is so never been a priority. ( In fact much better than you’d expect so maybe this has actually helped?! Naturally up to the buyer to decide whether to do it in the future as will be sold like this)
A genuine and reluctant sale due to changing circumstances so keen the ‘Y Reg’ finds its next worthy custodian as it totally deserves to be preserved.
