Beschreibung
First year of the stiffer duplex frame, a relatively low-mileage bike from the history given. The bike has never been fully restored, just touched-up as required. It has been converted to 12 volts and has a Boyer electronic ignition (parts to put it back to points & coil go with it). Starts first couple of kicks, runs nicely, ticks-over well. I've got a couple of videos of it starting and running.
The tank has an ethanol proof liner. New pistons, rings and bearings were fitted about 12000 miles ago. The cylinders rebored to 0. 20" and the bearings also to 0. 20".
It has its original buff logbook and some receipts. It was first registered in Darlington in 1960. The second owner bought it in 1963 and broke a conrod and damaged the left crankcase in 1965 at 22900 miles. He bought a conrod, piston and a new left half crankcase for £11. 9. 0 but never rebuilt it. In 2010 it was found in a barn with a couple of boxes of bits by a guy from Newton Aycliffe and he bought from a relative of the second owner. He recommissioned it in 2011, sold it to a new owner in Bognor Regis. He had it for a couple of years and did a total of 31 miles in the two years he owned it. It actually only covered 110 miles between 1965 - 2013. Owner before me bought it in 2013 and rebuilt the engine.
A split in the end of the front mudguard needs welding and painting. The paint work has a few chips and scratches and the chrome work is a bit tarnished in places. There is an oil leak from primary chain case area that needs sealing.
