Description

This was originally a metuchen, new york car, rolling of the plant on 24 march 1966. little is known about the car until 2008 when it was last registered in new york city. It was imported into the uk in june 2008 and purchased by tom heath for a full restoration in september 2008. all duties and vat have been paid. It underwent a complete * nut and bolt' restoration, covered by mustang monthly, with every part completely stripped, restored/ replaced and rebuilt at a cost of over £35, 000 in parts alone.

it returned to the road in june 2012 and has since covered 9027 summer only miles, stored in a garage.
during rebuild, the original ford build sheet was found taped to the under dash wiring and has been laminated to preserve it.

finished in ford silver blue iridescent paint (ford y code - the first year of metallic paint on the mustang) with a white power hood, with two tone light blue/ white upholstery.

the engine has a capacity of 351ci or 5. 7 litres. It is based on a small block 302 ford v8 windsor engine which was blueprinted and built in 2016. it runs and sounds unbelievable and creates that amazing
torquey v8 burble. It is a real head turner with a great high output v8 sound.
it has the same specification as an edelbrock crate engine which outputs 410hp. It has a fully cleaned and prepped 302 block with a 347 cubic inch eagle stroked crank set, professionally balanced to the pistons, damper and flex plate. The block was cleaned and prepped at 4. 060 bore (stock + 60 thou) with cut outs machined for the extra clearance needed on the crankset. It runs keith black pistons and rings, edelbrock e-street aluminium heads coupled to an edelbrock aluminium performer rpm manifold and hooker 3" headers. The 650fm edelbrock 4- barrel carb
it has a high performance comp cams camshaft, spec'ed by comp cams themselves to the highest possible output based on the
exact engine parts list, specific build specs, transmission and street performance level. Comp cams roller rockers with hardened comp cams pushrods, racing. Specification crank damper, new timing chain, alloy
"mustang* rocker covers, mallory high performance distributor and high output mellings oil pump and hardened drive. New high spec 3-core us built alloy radiator fitted 2018.

the body was completely stripped to bare metal, with all corrosion cut out and replaced with new metal (all panels from npd florida). major panels replaced include: Both doors (dynacorn), lh rear quarter (dynacorn), lh front fender, lh complete rocker, complete floors, seat support, convertible strengthening, trunk floors, hood (original ford pressing), front cowl, outer rear wheelhouses, amongst many many other panels.
the body is completely rust free and dynatrol cavity wax injected. It was etch primed, zinc rich primer and stone chip applied and then finished in original specification red oxide colour
underneath.
the silver blue iridescent paint work is unmarked and was professionally undertaken by s&p paintshop during a 6-week baremetal respray. Finished with autoglym hi-def wax.

the car came with a factory fitted hydraulic/ electric power hood, and operates perfectly with all new wiring and hoses. The soft top was completely replaced with all new fabric, rear window, seals and running parts, professionally fitted by don hoods, erdington. It operates and latches smoothly and looks fantastic in original ford specification white, with matching white tonncau cover and a blue cover too depending on your preference.

the car was completely rewired using all new original ford looms (note that this has not had a cheap generic painless wiring loom installed). all electrical equipment works exactly as it should. The original gauges have been rebuilt onto a new bezel, with the original fuse box replaced with a blade fuse unit for safety. All switches, bezels, etc have been replaced with scott drake us made replacements. The radio is an original 1966 unit which was professionally converted to modern electronics, with capability for cd/ dmirb/ 1pod/ iphone input via a 3smm jack which is placed in the ashtray.

the interior has been completely replaced with original tmi produced deluxe pony trim. In 1966, only 1500 mustangs of all three body styles were fitted with a bench seat. This is a phenomenally rare option, with very few now left worldwide.
the seat was completely rebuilt with repaired foam on the base and new on the uprights (replacement is unavailable for the bench seats due to the rarity). every bit of fabric interior was replaced with concours spec parts, including brand new original factory spec carpet, dash pad, steering wheel, horn push, mats, door cards etc were fitted.

the suspension and running gear has all been completely replaced and rebuilt with new parts where available. The front brakes have been converted to original specification discs, with red polybushes all round (other than the front tie rod/ chassis connection due to safety concerns in the mustang community)

new scott drake gt chrome wheels with white wall hercules/ cooper lifeliner tyres. Uprated front anti roll bar and
original gt specification lower/ stiffer front springs give the mustang absolutely fantastic road holding and handling.

Rear anti roll bar fitted on new leaf springs. Rear axle completely rebuilt with all new brake parts, bearings, seals and a rebuilt 2. 79:1 differential by hauser racing. The c4 transmission was rebuilt with an uprated valve body (higher i to 2 and 2 to 3 rpm, including new tailhousing bushes and seals. Propshaft has been rebuilt with new u-j's.
all chrome was replaced with concours specification brightwork and is in fantastic condition. Replaced parts include, horn trim, bumpers, mirrors, doorhandles, convertible hockey sticks, windscreen trim, all interior trim and handles, all engine bay chrome, all grille and light parts front and rear, exhaust trim rings to name but a few.

There is far too much work which has been done to the car to list, and there is a comprehensive file of receipts and paperwork to support the restoration. Needless to say, if it was needed doing on the car, it was completed. The car is as close to factory concours/ original specification (other than the engine) as it was possible to get without buying nos parts.

this car also comes with a fantastic business opportunity. It has been used at some high profile paid events, with a very well established relationship and market with ford mustang weddings.
over the last couple of years, interest and the value of the car has grown substantially with opportunity for significant return on investment.
the car is currently in the uk in bedfordshire and the v5 is registered in my name. Viewing for serious buyers only is welcomed and any inspection is also welcomed and actively supported.
