1 of 500 cars built to commemorate Subaru winning the 2003 World Rally Championship with Petter Solberg.
The fastest and best sorted UK sanctioned Impreza of its time.
Based on the STi Type UK but the WR1 was a true 'special'.
Last of the 2. 0l Flat Four Turbo Charged Impezas.

Prodrive were tasked with taking the standard STi and improving it above and beyond even their own Performance Package.
Upgrades included as standard on the WR1 -
Uprated Springs and dampers (25mm lower ride height)
18"Speedline 'Flow Forming' (P-FFT) Alloys
Prodrive Exhaust and Catalyst mods
ECU revision
WRC inspired front spoiler
Stainless Steel Mesh Grille
Grey Bucket Seats
Aluminium Gearknob
Ice Blue Metallic Paintwork
DCCD (Drivers Control Centre Differential)

The result was a more powerful and better sorted vehicle - particularly when it comes to driving on British roads

0 - 100 mph in 10. 6 seconds

Super car figures even by today's standards! The WR1 provides an altogether more linear power delivery, stronger at lower RPMs and better out of corners than the standard STi.
As important as this raw performance uplift was the improved driveability. DCCD allows the driver to vary torque distribution front to rear bias which has a dramatic effect on handling. No longer prone to understeer but more pointy on road or track. The uprated springs and dampers lend the WR1 fantastic body control without the jarring ride of Subarus main competitor - the Mitsubishi Evo.

Even today - 18 years after launch - there are few better 'B' road stormers to buy. When you consider the skyrocketing costs of the Tommi Makkinen Evolutions these Petter Solberg Imprezas perhaps look like a solid investment opportunity too?
