You would not get any where near a car like this in the states for this price. The sills box sections inner wings etc are amazing. You don’t invest these figures into shoddy cars.
Classic American el Camino 1969. In my opinion the best looking year by far.
All parts basically identical to Chevelle so all available and cheap. New or used.
Will have to be a long description I’m afraid, mainly to avoid misconceptions This is a car for a more experienced classic owner.
I decided at Christmas to finally down size my cars I have sold 3 post war cars up to now and this is the last to go, I need to concentrate on my earlier pre war yanks which are being neglected by monsters like this. This has nicked my time for way too long. I am a qualified old school mechanic . I enjoy working on early pre war cars far more than later stuff like this.
I’ve owned 2 years, previous owner bought it 5 years prior and used as daily driver. He spent an absolute fortune on the running gear etc please see pics. you can see the tubular suspension in the engine bay photo.
HE Removed (paid a garage to do all of this at huge labour cost) the old pressed mass produced poor quality suspension components and completely replaced everything with ridetechs new components. Research this as this makes this sit On a modern cars underpinnings and handle like new too. No hopeless American handling here and fully adjustable.
The import and postage costs for these parts alone ran into thousands as you can expect.
Please google ridetech suspension and air struts impressive stuff.
Fitted full ride tech air suspension struts and all controls. Self levelling air is the ultimate suspension as per a new Range Rover etc it’s not just a up down gimmick. Obviously struts can be removed in an hour and swapped out for coil overs etc. personal taste.
Rebuilt monster 454 that’s 7500cc (had a straight six and manual box in originally)so if the fuel prices worry you in your Mondeo think carefully if you intend to daily drive this anti Greta petrol guzzler, I decoded the block out of a 1981 Chevy truck, all anti smog and emissions controls removed. This engine is crazy smooth and sounds quite simply amazing. Brand new manual choke edelbrok carb, dialled in and just so smooth.
Exhaust mild steel and just right. Twin pipes.
Gm400 auto box bomb proof gearbox with new trans cooler.

He didn’t want a manual shifter in tunnel as wanted 3 on bench seat. Obviously you can remove and fit a standard tunnel mounted hurst etc manually operated auto shifter.
The air suspension and gearbox selector is not fitted to a bracket etc as was mounted in dodgy homemade consul. These can be fitted basically anywhere in the car to new owners choice. They are floating loose as pictured on the seat at moment.
Although when I bought her under the bonnet and dash was a real mess, dodgy elecs , dodgy cooling hoses , incorrect components you name it.
I ripped it all out and started again, made a full harness bulkhead forward, proper relays, etc run where original went, and made it look right under the bonnet. 5 row Ali rad with fan on adjustable switch. Spent a lot of time getting in to look the business.
Interior had homemade centre console for radio etc again wires everywhere all gone now.
My plan was to get all off the shelf in USA new black door panels, a headliner kit and a few other bits ss steering wheel etc for the interior and make that as nice as under the bonnet. I was going to leave the external, it’s 99 %rust free top to bottom , USA respray guess 20 years ago, fine from 10 feet, few chips etc etc. I liked the ides of a pretty plain car with a surprise under the bonnet. Rare rear screen with opening window sliding. you could simply spray the door cards with vinyl coat for the time being.
Really loads and loads to say that I’ve missed but I’m boring myself so please call for a straight talking chat. Or email me through advert and I’ll call you etc.
Anyway……. it’s going as it is, I’ve sort of lost interest now, you can drive it as is or go to town on the final aesthetics.
Hard to value ?? Will see how it goes and reduce accordingly over the span of advert maybe v5 correct with v8.
To summarise what’s here…. Parts spend 15k at least so far. A basic standard Camino without the mods in this condition with a straight six or tired small block would be approx 12 to 15k these days, labour to complete all of this another 8 k at least. So…. I’m looking for the buyer who really understands what’s for sale here. Very few folk make these mods in this country. To do this your self would be pushing 30k easily. in my opinion if the interior was spot on and a bright red respray etc, clone it as a ss tribute it could be a 40k car easily. My price is subject to the normal wiggle , dither, wiggle again, there is one hell of a lot of car here. Interest will decide ultimately it’s value. I’m not going to sit on it for ever, life’s too short. Got to start somewhere ££. And as time goes on i will flex more, maybe ..... All offers will really be considered as I appreciate not a standard car and not a huge market.

I never sell a car this close to being fully finished but hey ho decision made. if you’ve got something early 1910 to 1937 I might be interested cash either way. Something later maybe?? But unlikely If it helps the sale and more my cup of tea then why not.

Oh has modern upgrade led lights with halo sidelights, colour changing if you like that sort of thing…… I don’t I leave them white. Fun for show though I guess. Remote to flick between colours. Even that was £600 madness.

Crager ss chrome rims fundamentally ok but a few pits in chrome here and there.
All chrome and stainless is really good used condition, panels straight, uniform gaps for a yank. idle oil pressure is 45 psi. Yep, clean as a whistle out of the twin pipes.
Drives straight, stops straight and really goes. If you like burning rubber and flooring it this is your car. It is a monster under the bonnet.
I have changed my mind about 117 times re selling this as I do like looking at it but as said my heart is with the old timers looking miserable at the back of the shed, come and have a brew you will understand lol..

Check camino parts online full door panels (yanks call them cards) handles, trim, you name it available of the shelf. Bit hassle but peice of cake to finish off , or leave as is.

Miles show 21k but this means nothing.
