This 1991 mazda eunos 1. 6 v-special is yet another car that i have owned before. In fact i originally sold this car to its previous owner some 10-12 years ago and it has since spent much of it. Time in the south of france, hence the exceptionally clean state of its body and underside. Its now covered just 68500 miles and drives really well.
first of all though let me quickly tell you who i am and what i do: My business, goodwood sportscars, specialises in the sale of mazda mx5s. I've been doing this for 15+ years and know the cars well and prepare them properly. I have a good reputation in the mazda world and i'm happy to answer any questions honestly and accurately. I consider myself to be more of a car enthusiast than a car dealer. I regularly compete in hillclimbs and sprints - in an mx5 of course! It means i have good idea of how a good mx5 should feel and drive and my cars are set up so you can use and enjoy them immediately.
back in 2004, this car was involved in a bizarre accident resulting in it being classed as a category d insurance write off. While in a car park, the nice lady in the car next to it was struggling to lift a pushchair out of her car and dropped it onto the rear wing of the mazda, denting it badly. Values of these cars were so low back then that the insurance company refused to repair it. I saw the damage and after the car was repaired, bought it. To give you an idea of why the insurance company refused to repair it - and to show how values have changed - i sold the car back then for the grand total of £1300. i'm afraid that this time round, i paid multiples of that for it and the asking price is £4495 which i still think is excellent value for a low mileage solid eunos that is still fabulous to drive.
its finished in neo green wit. Tan leather seats and trim along with a wood-rimmed steering wheel and matching gear knob. I'm about to fit a brand new tan vinyl soft top (with plastic rear window). when the photos were taken, this hadn't been done yet s. I have included a photo of an identical car with a tan soft top so you can see how this suit. The car. The bodywork is very good: Both sills have had minor repairs in the past and both are solid. The car has never been welded underneath and lower sills, floors etc are in good solid condition. There is no rust on sills, wheel arches, wings etc. Most of the underside has been cleaned and treated with dynax or something similar and its all in good condition. Paintwork is generally good wit. The odd stone chip, light scratch and mark here and there, in line wit. The age of the car. It all looks very smart though and its a very good looking car. Its fitted wit. Its original 14" 'daisy" alloy wheels all in good condition. The front tyres will be replaced before its sale.
inside the leather seats are in pretty good condition. The base of the drivers seat has been replaced and has a slightly different texture to the original though it still looks good. The bolster on the drivers seat has had a minor repair. But its worth remembering these seats are 31 years old and while not 100% perfect, still look really good. The rest of the trim inside along wit. The door casings and carpets are all in good clean condition and the interior has a lovely feel to it. Electric windows and power steering are fitted as standard and it has an immobiliser fitted. The stereo is an older model (with cassette player) but it still sounds very good and i have it synced with a bluetooth device (which is included) so you can take phone calls and play music through your phone etc.
mechanically, it. In standard condition. This uses the 115bhp 1. 6 engine s. Its as sweet as anything and is a joy to rev hard. I should mention that there is no service history at all (the previous owner was not the best at hanging on to paperwork unfortunately). however, he was a proper car enthusiast and i know its been looked after correctly with a cambelt replacement along with new auxiliary belts replaced within the last couple of years. Its also clearly been serviced regularly and has recently had new front brake pads, new front brake caliper and new rear springs. I have gone through the car carefully, checking and inspecting everything i can and have given it a good service - new oil, filters air filter, new spark plugs, new track rod ends, hand brake adjusted, electric window mechanisms cleaned and lubricated along with door locks etc.
as a result, it drives really well and is a joy to blast along a good twisting country lane. Everything works as it should (other than the air con which is simply not cold). it starts instantly of course, runs beautifully with good oil pressure and holds it. Temperature in all conditions. As usual, i always drive my sales cars extensively before i sell them as i want to be sure that any car drives as i know a good mx5 should. I'm delighted wit. This one and its a good example of how much fun a decent mx5 should be. Its mot tested until may 2023 and a check of its mot history shows that it has covered perhaps 6000 miles over the last 12 years. As mentioned, the asking price is £4495 which feels like exceptionally good value for money.
