Description
Here I have my triumph herald 1200 1966. I have owned this car for around 4 years. As you can see it’s not a standard herald it’s my own creation of a 1960s works rally car/ racer/ Cafe racer whatever you want to call it, the main change is the engine form a 1200 single carb to a 1500 twin carb. There are a load of mods witch I will list.
So the engine has had a full rebuilt top to bottom (witch I have receipts for parts)
New- Flat top pistons and rings, conrods, big ends, main bearings, the head was been send off for a overhaul and now can take unleaded fuel. A fast road cam (witch was already in the engine before the rebuilt so I don’t have a receipt for) the other mods are
Gaz adjustable dampers and front shocks with lowering springs - 1500 gear box with new clutch and 1500 diff 1500 anti roll bar - spitfire swing spring - Electric fuel pump - sports coil - new alternator - classic bucket seats - full custom exhaust and 4 branch manifold - new HT leads and distributor - oil cooler - new rocker cover - steering wheel - large aluminium radiator and electric fan
Other parts- have another set off wheels - the heater box - 2 fibreglass rear valance - and a few more other bits.
The dashboard I made from aluminium from the pitches you will see more gauges and other rally equipment, aluminium door cards and an aluminium plate where the back seats would’ve been.
Chassis- the chassis is solid with 2 new out riggers and lots of welding (I will include pictures). The small bad bit is right at the front where the chassis meets the bumper where it holds the bonnet on (if you see in pictures the near side bonnet looks low) I have a full solid replacement witch I will include
Body- the body on a whole isn’t to bad couple scratches and things here and there but nothing uncommon for the age. I believe it was resprayed a few years ago but not sure
Bad bits. Someone before me installed a 90s sunroof which isn’t period to the time I was planning on changing the roof because they’re very common to buy and easy to change, but never got round to it. Also on the roof paint is peeling see pictures for details. There is a hole in the boot where it meets the rear rigger il include pics. There is a small rust hole near the back window il show pic. Like I said on a whole it’s not to bad.
The reason I am selling the car is I don’t drive it, it’s a car that needs to be driven and enjoyed and I have or so started another project witch will take up my time.
I have a video off it running and 100 pictures if you would like to see more. And I do not have the original engine or gear box.
