Beschreibung
This is an absolutely gorgeous example of the MK3 Spitfire.
Owned for 3 years, I am selling to make way for other hobbies. During our time owning the car it has provided a massive amount of pleasure, cruising locally and around the West Coast of Scotland.
For such an old vehicle it is in excellent condition with a great provenance having completed the Le Mans Classic.
Exterior - paint work is untarnished with a bright finish and minimal marks/ scratches. There are a couple of very small areas of paint flaking low down on the panels (as you would expect) where they meet the edges. The windscreen rubber will require replaced, though it perfectly functional as it is - the car will be sold with a replacement kit which has already been purchased. A recent inspection by a mechanic confirmed the chassis and under-car to be in very good condition with no concerning rust or corrosion. The soft top works very well and locks in place. Shrinkage over time does leave a gap between the top of the raised windows and the soft top, but this is a car for fair weather and has never caused me an issue! The car comes with a hard top (painted in the same condition) but without the bolts etc for fitting - these can be easily obtained from a classic car parts dealer.
Interior - the interior has a red carpet floor and red carpet over the transmission tunnel and rear / parcel area. The seats are leather / leather effect (I'm not certain) and in great condition. The car still has original fixed point seat belts, but will be sold with inertia belts which have been bought, but not yet fitted.
Mechanics - the whole car was recently serviced and overhauled. This included routine checks such as oil levels/ brakes etc and some repair/ upgrades. The rear suspension was completely replaced, the carbs tuned and electronic ignition system fitted (this all happened after the photographs were taken). The engine will start and stop as expected - it does require a period to warm up before it reaches it's happiest RPM which does often mean 5 mins of patience before pulling away if the vehicle is starting from cold. Once warm it turns over on the button and drives like a dream!
Valuation - 2 years ago the vehicle was valued for insurance purposes by the Triumph Six Sports Club. One photographs shows the extract from the form, the condition of the car and a valuation of £15, 000. The car has been upgraded since then and the physical condition is unchanged.
