This 1984 Jaguar XJS-C 3. 6 is rare in itself but as a car with manual transmission, extremely rare. Very few of these cars were built in period as most had automatic gearboxes and still fewer survive today. The 5 speed manual gearbox makes this a true drivers car and with the 3. 6 Litre Straight Six engine this car rapidly propels you along with that smooth and classic Jaguar elegance.
The story of this car is that the last owners father had this car from nearly new. Ownership passed to him when his father died in 2005 and the car was used occasionally and always garaged. In 2017 the car failed its MoT and it was for sentimental reasons rather than economic ones that what turned out to be a quite remarkable and thorough restoration followed at an eye watering cost of nearly £40K. This was undertaken by Messrs Winspeed, the renowned historic Jaguar restorers and historic race preparation specialists. All invoices for this work come with the car.
After the restoration the car wasn’t used but kept in storage until recently. It now represents quite a remarkable thing and simply must be the best example of the marque. The seller has recommissioned the car which has a fresh MoT with no advisories having covered less than 10 miles since it was fully rebuilt! The paintwork and chrome are like new and the Targa roof panels and folding rear soft top and frame are new having been specially recreated at a cost of over £6000. The car could benefit from detailing and a thorough going over but has emerged from its hibernation in tip top condition. The MoT tester was particularly amazed at the undersides complete lack of corrosion! All panels having been replaced and remade by a team of craftsmen where unavailable. Altogether this car represents rarity and condition not seen every day.
The mileage is correct and the MoT history serves to prove this. The car drives beautifully pulling strongly through all gears with no smoke or rattles from the engine and starts on the button. It represents a true opportunity and investment as well as being eminently useable and an ideal continental touring machine with a large boot for luggage and factory fitted air conditioning
