Immaculate RRC and original except for single original colour respray to body. Lovely colour combination of Ardennes Green with Westminster grey leather and dark mahogany wood inserts. Factory electric steel sunroof. No rust. Aircon is frosty, heater is toasty. Leather has no rips or tears. Drivers door side seat bolster has been repaired by previous owner. Electric seat controls still work! Electric sunroof all good too with no leaks. This is an Australian delivered car so has never been exposed to salt roads and having spent majority of its life inland has not had salt air exposure either. It would be museum quality except for the mileage. The underside has never been molested. The original (Australian applied) waxoyl treatment is starting to peel exposing factory paint on the chassis and no rot or deterioration. Axles still have factory blue and yellow paint markers. A true jewel in the RRC world where the car is honest, unmolested and has aged gracefully by being treated as a luxury car rather than an off-roader. Any inspection will prove this and I encourage you to do so. 3. 9i V8 with hotwire injection with recent compression test showing an even 140 over 6 cylinders and 145 on the remaining 2. Very strong engine. These required heads doing around the 200k km mark and this was done at 188, 000kms. Service book is dealer stamped to 120, 000km and receipts for work done since comes with the car. 119, 000miles
Headlining is a weak point on these and is being replaced on 30th August with the sunroof coming out as part of that process in order for a proper job to be done. Drainage channels will be re-checked as part of that. No leaks or water marks on the current headlining it's just started to drop above the drivers head and that's the beginning of the end.
Beyond that the only issues are the fan resistor which is a common and easily rectified (parts available) failure and a rear electric window switch which works from centre console but not on the rear door.
I've owned the car for 3years and thought of tidying up underneath to match the paint on top but feel it's better to show the cars true colours rather than have it look like it's hiding something horrific. This car is really astounding given it's age and Land Rover's reputation for chucking them together in Solihull at the time. If you know Range Rovers you'll appreciate how beautiful a survivor this is.
Photo's are honest and untouched, just a phone camera.
Selling due to 1/ ill health as I can't get over and around it and 2/ because whenever I drive it I'm terrified someone will put a shopping cart into it.
Price reflects the standard of it. Top dollar in Aus but probably a bargain in the UK. The respray is a 15k job judging by the standard and finish. 2 spots of overspray that I haven't touched so you can see exactly what has happened to this car in its lifetime. Non-original part I have changed is the steering arm to a discovery unit as these are a better balljoint system and the steering is the better for it. So there.
Always been treated as a luxury vehicle and excepting the original purchaser (a jeweller) I know of everyone who's owned it: Jim, Tom, Alex and now me. Never been an off roader and the underside bears this to be true. Inspect to truly appreciate.
A Dec1989 build and May1990 registered car so although ABS it was coil and spring from factory - not the dreaded air suspension. Original Radio supplied but not fitted.
Looks stunning and turns heads everywhere from young and old.
Negotiable to an extent.
