History:
In 1953, racing driver Donald Healey started production of his own sports roadster with car manufacturer Austin. Intended for the race track but also suitable for the road, the result was a fantastically uncompromising sports car that cost just over half as much as a Jaguar XK120 at the time. A total of 72, 000 Austin Healeys were built from 1953 to 1968, becoming more and more comfortable over the years. Today, the Austin Healey is one of the most popular classic sports cars with British charm. A Healey is welcome anywhere, can be used well on long journeys and has an excellent spare parts supply. This genuine Austin Healey 100 is the BN2 series, which was imported to Switzerland in the 1990s and successively built up into a purist rally car by its previous owner. Many rally participations from 2006 to 2021 in important events such as the Copa d'Europa or LeJog prove the excellent substance and reliable technology of this example.


Body and paintwork:
The aluminium body is in very good condition, the black matt paintwork has very few signs of use, is easy to maintain and makes this Healey even sportier. A lot of attention was paid to the gap dimensions and the fittings of this rally specimen, which was built up for around CHF 130'000. The roll cage is firmly bolted in place and the original hardtop has been supplemented with a ventilation hatch.


Interior:
The interior has been completely converted to rally trim and has nothing in common with the original. Sports seats with harness straps, adapted consoles with additional instruments, a hydraulic rally brake, more robust steering and pedals and many technically useful options have been installed.


Engine and mechanics:
The entire technology is of the highest quality and has not only been completely overhauled once in the past 16 years, but also successively maintained and optimised. Technology lovers will get their money's worth with this BN2.


Chassis:
The chassis was converted to telescopic dampers and reinforced. The rims as well as the brakes correspond to the original and are as good as new.


Driving Experience:
The torque, the gear ratio, the sound, the sporty chassis and all updates make this Austin Healey a real racer. And it should also be owned by an ambitious classic rally driver. It is absolutely roadworthy, but does not have a veteran's entry.


Recommendation:
This example is not suitable for lovers of original classic cars. This Healey belongs on fast roads, at driving events or in competitions. If you have always wanted a particularly sporty classic and would like to take part in the many events with it, this BN2 is a car in which you do not have to invest. A thoroughbred sports car for a real sports type.
