1955 Standard 8 1500 4 gear overdrive SOLD

Selling due to ill health, too many projects and moving to the SW.

Please only serious buyers, I got lots of questions about general advice about these cars. I know nothing compared to what the Standard Club and forums have so please contact them instead.

Partially rebuilt by Southern Triumph Services 1955 Standard 8 with Triumph Spitfire 1500 engine, 4 synchromesh 3 rail gearbox with J-type overdrive. Custom fibreglass tunnel cover. Front brakes disc conversion, electronic ignition, new iridium spark plugs and most important: original Spanish made Weber 32/ 36 DGEV.
New headlights but keeping faithful to originals. Fuel tank cleaned inside and repainted. New battery.

Goes like the clappers.

Got loads of parts to go with it, including new front shocks, front springs, door and window seals and too many to name here.

You could drive away but trailer transport is recommended.

V5 in my name and 1500 engine properly registered with the DVLA.

Bad bits:

- It needs completely new interior. I have used it as is, took out the back seat (included in the sale). I still have the panels but are beyond recovery, they could serve as templates though. Wiring loom is not the best, if I were to keep it, I would change it
- Possibly a new loom
- If I were to keep it, I would rebuild the steering box

All these items are available through the Club. They give invaluable help and most of the parts are readily available through them. I've been a member for the past 5 years and I have no regrets.

Thanks for looking!

We've just taken delivery of this wonderful 1947 Standard Flying 8 Tourer with 76,300 miles on. This car is in very good condition for it's age and runs really well as we took it out for a drive when it arrived. It has bags of character and reminds us of watching old films with the handsome leading man and his beautiful ...

I bought the Vanguard on a bit of a whim, but I have come to the conclusion that I have too many projects on at the moment so have decided to sell the car. I have not had it running (engine is free) but it all seems to be there, last on the road around 2015. The car is structurally ok and requires no welding, the bodywork ...
