Here we have for sale this 1984 Land Rover® Series 3 Ragtop, presented in popular (and rarely seen) Mid Grey colour scheme, with Limestone Wheels and Sand Canvas.
Externally, it has all the features one would hope to see – the bonnet mounted spare, road biased tyres for a better on-road driving experience, rear grab handles, towbar and electrics to allow towing, larger defender style mirrors for greater visibility, bonnet catches, front towball for extra manoeuvrability and a recent canvas to complete the look. In our opinion, it looks just as it should – it is great to see the bodywork is a spray type finish too.
The interior is largely standard, with three recent front standard seats, along with deluxe matting to the footwells. There is a seat belt bar fitted to allow 3 point inertia reel belts in the front, which is required for the modern MOT test, and means no requirements to adjust static belts. The rear houses a pair of bench seats, along with a load mat to the floor to protect against scratches. This means the ability to carry seven occupants including the driver – so the whole family can come along for the day out.
Out on the road, this Series 3 drives just as it should, with the parabolic springs and road biased tyres giving a more compliant ride over standard – the benefit of a Galvanised Chassis Rebuild is a well sorted feel behind the wheel. It delivers a pleasing period drive aided by the upgrades.
