We are delighted to present for sale this striking 1978 Series 3 Land Rover – finished in Corvette Electric Yellow, with black detailing. The eagle eyed amongst those who follow JB 4×4 will know this is a colour we have used once before, on our 20th Anniversary Edition – such was the popularity of this vehicle, we have opted to complete another vehicle in the same colour scheme, and make it available for purchase.
Externally, as the photos show – one can see the obvious “headline” styling tweaks – from the wolf wheels with Michelin 4×4 tyres, bonnet mounted spare, the new black canvas, the defender mirrors, the black front bumper, rear grab handles, vintage number plates – the list goes on and on. The entire look is complemented by black detailing to the cappings and a full clear LED light set which includes black lamp surrounds and “HALO” day time running lights within the LED front headlights – this not only looks great but vastly improves night driving vision, whilst also putting a much lower strain on the alternator and improving reliability. A set of tubular black “XS” side steps are fitted to aid passenger loading, which is a nice touch to finish things off.
On the inside, there are two front deluxe seats, with a seat belt bar providing 3 point interia belts for both front passengers. Deluxe matting is fitted to the footwells, whilst lower door cards give that premium feel – the added bonus of a cubby box allows items to be stowed out of sight as well as a set of cupholders, which are very welcome for the drive through. In the rear, twin bench seats are fitted to give seating for six people including the driver, and all four rear seats are fitted with lap belts. There is a load mat to the rear floor to protect against damages and scratches. An evander wood steering wheel completes the finish whilst being nice for the driver to hold.
Out on the road, this Series 3 gives a pleasing period drive – aided by the Weber carburettor and performance air filter for extra power over standard, and a set of Michelin 4×4 750×16 tyres to give superior gearing and a more relaxed cruise. As mentioned previously – the LED light kit means if you do end up in dingy conditions, you have far better visibility… whilst driving around “lights off” during the day looks very cool thanks to the HALO finish. Parabolic springs give a superior ride over standard, which is welcome on poorer roads or over speed bumps. Defender mirrors give superior visibility when driving, parking or changing lanes.
