Launched in 1948 the Velocette LE featured some incredibly innovative design for the period. Equipped with a four stroke, water cooled 149cc engine, Aluminium leg shields and foot-boards. The LE was marketed as an affordable and reliable means of post-war transportation. Thanks to its incredibly quiet engine and practical design the Velocette quickly became popular with local police forces and gained its nickname “The Noddy Bike”.
Our Velocette was manufactured May 1962 and is a delightful example of the much more usable MKIII. With a foot operated gear change, extra gear ratio and larger fuel tank making for a much more refined riding experience.
The LE has arrived with us in lovely condition, presenting as an older restoration that has benefitted from extensive recent expenditure. We have invoices on file from L. E. Velo Club for new hoses, head gasket, pistons, distributor rebuild kit, coil and other smaller items.
The carbuettor has also had a full rebuild to include new jets, springs, and needle leaving the motorcycle in fine condition ready for its next owner to use and enjoy.
