1913 Talbot 4CT 12hp Colonial Drop Head Coupe.

Utterly charming & in very fine order. This Talbot is a colonial model supplied new to Australia where the higher ground clearance made it more suited to the deplorable condition of the early antipodean roads.
Body is the original two seat drop head coupe with a useful storage area to the rear. The car is fiished in a jaunty bright blue with gold over red coachlines. The car is needless to say festooned with brass lamps & other motoring acoutrements giving it a very period appearance.
This is clearly a low mile chassis with almost no wear on the foot pedals & a very tight taut feel to the chassis & steering. The king pins were dismantled & no wear found whatsoever.
The 2. 6 litre 4 cylinder engine starts readily fed by a zenith carburettor with recourse to the modern starter installed on the car. It settles down to an even idle & is an easy car to drive once the central throttle position is mastered. The gear box is a 4 speed crash box but also quite easy to use.
The hood is in fine order & lowers easily after undoing the retaining leather straps. A copy of an original Talbot manual comes with the car enjoining one to the correct operation thereof. A VCC dating certificate number 2323 issued in 2000 comes with the car. It sits on a set of tall beaded edge tyres giving the excellent ground clearance.
Under the current onwership the car has attended assorted Yorkshire rally events where it is well known on the show circuit. Living as it does in the the Yorkshire dales, hills clearly present no problem for it. Indeed on our test drive it marched up some serious inclines taking then in its stride. All in all a great Edwardian car which is both easy & a pleasure to drive. It trots along B roads with alacrity but would not be well suited to motorway use.
