1966 MG Midget in very good all-round condition with a very solid underside, running and driving spot on, we have driven this car over 80 problem free and very enjoyable miles. It’s a really good looker, the hood on these early models stores completely out the way, leaving really smooth sporty lines and it also has the tonneau cover as well for the super sporty look.
It starts very easily and runs well, pulling strongly through all the gears, it stops ok and is steady at speed with no wandering or vagueness of any kind the steering wheel is rock steady and if you press the “go” pedal hard it’s quick at getting up to the speed limit, we have checked the fluids for correct level and contamination and there's no breathing from the oil cap when running, see the video. The odometer is showing 99600 miles but will most likely be incorrect.
The interior is complemented by blue piped seats, original period steering wheel and very unmolested dashboard, seat belts fitted, very tidy carpet set with proper Midget over mats, it’s a sung place to get comfy for some motoring adventures.
Both doors, boot and bonnet open, click shut and lock, the windows wind down, the quarter light vents twist, the side lights, head lights and horn, wiper, washers, all work. The hood is free from any rips, splits or damage and fits snugly, the windows are very clear with no cracks, the hood frame is in very good order.
The paintwork is very presentable, there are a few tiny imperfection that will be found on very close inspection. Bright work is all good, not new and slightly aged with some pitting, matching wire spare wheel. It’s completely solid underneath, the sill’s, floor pans, jacking points, chassis legs are solid, we have had it 6ft in the air, see the pics and video any inspection welcome.
We have the full logbook, two sets of keys, a history files containing lot’s invoices and old MOTS, its HPI clear with full printout and the car is TAX and MOT. All the tyres are in very good order with no slows or leaks, they are a matching set and on the desirable wire spoke wheels.
The dash gauges are typically MG with false readings and the tacho / rev counter is not working, brakes could maybe do with sharpening up, but that’s just my opinion, we drove it 80 miles without a hitch, apart from that and the chrome pitting and minor paint flaws we already mentioned we can’t find anything else to say about this lovely 67 year old car.
Draw out of your boring ISA, get out the picnic hamper and go and enjoy your hard earned savings, you still have a car to sell if you want to cash in later and you will be making memories instead of a pittance of interest.
There are loads of Midgets to pick from, you simply will not find another this well demonstrated, with everything shown to you before you leave the house, nothing hidden and nothing to hide.
