This gorgeous 1958 MGA 1500 roadster is a US export car repatriated in 2018. Like so many post-war industries in the UK, car manufacturers were encouraged to export so they could get hold of raw materials. This led to almost 9/ 10 of the production line being exported. Luckily this car spent its life in the dry state of California meaning it was mostly rust-free and perfect for restoration. The car has been fully rebuilt regardless of cost, making this a standout example of how an MGA could be.
The Body, Chassis, and Running gear were all broken down into their component parts, serviced, and rebuilt to the manufactures specifications. The Engine has been fully reconditioned with all core plugs removed and water chambers cleared, resulting in a perfect cooling system as designed, without the need for extra cooling fans fitted to other 'restorations'. The engine has been fitted with a new oil pump, electrics, and a refurbished fuel system.
The car retains its original running gear with the 4-speed gearbox, keeping with the authentic driving experience. It easily keeps up with modern traffic and is a delight to drive. The bodywork has been finished to an exceptional standard with perfect panel alignment and door gaps. Complemented in a flat and polished paintwork. All new electrics including wiring harness, fittings, and ignition system. Brand new tires all around along with the correct wheel colour and new chrome knock-offs.
The Braking system has been fully overhauled with new master and slave cylinders all around. New brake shoes, brake drums, and brake lines. The drivetrain consists of new wheel bearings and seals all around. New clutch, release bearing, clutch slave cylinder, refurbished rear axle & prop shaft. The gearbox has been inspected with all gaskets replaced. All new brightwork.
The interior has been fully replaced. New carpets, door cards leather facing seats, and armrest. A newly installed soft top and refurbished sides screens make this a truly special example of a special car in the history of British motoring.
