As stated by its current owner who has owned 3 Honda S800s, this rare convertible was sold new in Orleans and registered on the 27th June 1968. He was able to acquire it in 1990 from an enthusiast who had just restored the engine. Well preserved, this car has optional aluminium rims and the rare deflector that is attached to the top of the windscreen when driving with the roof down. The bodywork was restored the following year and, on that occasion, it was repainted from its original white to red. An invoice highlighting the work is included in the file. Homologated larger brakes were also fitted, as well as a "racing" camshaft. As for safety, 3-points belts were installed too. The soft top and upholstery have also been refurbished and the whole car is now presented uniformly. Always serviced by connoisseurs, the engine is perfectly developed and starts straight away, as evidenced by our road test which reminded us of the design quality and the engine's strength of this little sports car. This particular example had the privilege of appearing on the cover Retroviseur in May 1999 during an issue devoted to the model. Accompanied by its tonneau cover and its soft top cover, this rare S800 convertible has plenty of charm; if there is an invitation to go out for a drive, the probability of wanting to accelerate quickly and reach the red zone limit (which only starts at 8, 500 rpm) is indeed likely!
Auction estimate: €28 000 / €38 000 - Without reserve price
