Words are not enough to fully describe the elegance of the Pininfarina design of this Alfa Romeo Spider Giulia with a 1600 engine. "It's my favourite in terms of design," said our Nevers-based collector. "What's more, it dates from the year I was born!"
At the beginning of the 2000s, this car underwent restoration by an enthusiast at the Bandonny body shop in Auxerre, who refined the works in 2003 before the car passed to our collector in 2006. Since 2002, on which date the odometer read 18, 771 km, this car has had two owners but was driven very little: today, the odometer reads 18, 869 km. The file includes invoices for spare parts bought in France (in particular from the specialist VHB) and in Italy.
The light patina caused by the excellently done restoration gives the car a wonderful look. Inside, the black leather upholstery offers a pleasant atmosphere, with replaced carpets and a period Blaupunkt radio. The alpaca hood moves correctly, despite small tears on the lower section on both sides.
Under the bonnet, a 4-cylinder twin-cam can be found, with a non-original Redline air filter to cap the single Weber carburettor used in this model. The car has disc brakes at the front and a five-speed transmission, which represent an undeniable step forwards in comparison to the Giulietta it is based on. The car requires a service before it will drive at its best. With its pleasant patina, this beguiling vehicle boasts one of the most beautiful car designs of the 1960s.
