We are delighted to present for sale this Land Rover® Series 3 Ragtop, finished in the Marine Blue colour scheme with Limestone Wheels.
Externally, the exterior has a very “stock” feel with the only notable addition being a set of defender style door mirrors for better visibility whilst driving. Other than this “common sense” addition, she looks as she would’ve back in the days of old – with a bonnet mounted spare, cross climate tyres for better road holding, rear grab handles, rear mud flaps and a recent sand canvas to complete the period look. It is also great to see that the galvanised cappings have an original finish, rather than being painted over – this also matches the finish of the bumper and windscreen to give a unified look. In our opinion, we think this looks just right – and with that great “COW” numberplate, it would look fantastic on a farm too. The paintwork is of a good quality spray level finish, which is nice to note and not a given at this pricing point.
The interior continues the standard theming with three recent standard front seats, along with deluxe matting to the footwells. The rear is unfitted but could house benches on request for £595 to bring seating to seven – there is just a load mat to the rear floor area to protect against damage and scratches. What you see is what you get here – just what we like to see – no additions or frills.
Out on the road is where the improvements can be found over standard – parabolic springs are fitted for a much more compliant ride, and a new Weber Carburettor has been fitted (at significant expense) for additional power and to achieve as much reliability as possible. The cross climate rubber means a balance is achieved between off and on road abilities. In short, it delivers a pleasing period drive – aided by the upgrades mentioned.
In summary, if you are looking for a Series 3 Ragtop which has not been messed about with and is true to the original brief, then this could be for you. With the benefits of Tax and MOT exemption, along with classic insurances – it should prove cost-effective to own in the longer term, whilst proving to be a solid investment for the future due to its simple charm and universal appeal!
