PRINCIPAL FACTS
Simply stunning 300SL in an enticing shade of Diamond Blue with entirely complimentary Beige leather and a meagre 19k miles from new. Condition to match the very best out there, this car's a real head turner for all the right reasons. Having spent much of its life in the Channel Islands, the mileage and owners were kept to a minimum, while expense spent on upkeep seems to have been to the maximum.
Trips to the mainland for servicing can be seen in the service history, including one to Mercedes-Benz Poole. The car stayed in the mainland UK from November 2012 where it received its current plate. Since maintained and improved by Edward Hall and ourselves, this 300SL remains in enviable order throughout.
OVERVIEW & EQUIPMENT
Fitted with cruise control from the factory, as well as other interior niceties such as electric windows, vanity mirrors and that centre armrest, this is one SL you'll savour on long journeys. That is, if you can bring yourself to add to many more miles to that super low tally...
CONDITION SYNOPSIS
We've said it already, but it's worth reinforcing, the paint finish and colour on this 300 are exquisite. The chrome gives an equally impressive account of itself, with even the perilously exposed front grille and bumper remaining free of imperfections.
The engine bay of this car presents so well it's almost a shame to keep it closed! This is a bonnet-up show-off for sure. The plastics are deep black and in perfect shape, all the fluid reservoirs are clean and clear with warning stickers remaining where Mercedes-Benz put them 34 years ago.
Leather trim in this car is exceptional with an as-new degree of suppleness and a cleanliness to the seats that hints at them being barely sat in. Door cards, carpet and headlining are just as good.
Mechanically the car feels strong and smooth with that trademark six-cylinder gliding you along with changes from the accompanying automatic transmission barely perceptible.
HISTORY FILE
Registered in Guernsey in May 1989, the car stayed there until 2012. A near complete service booklet shows stamps from various specialists both in the Channel Islands and back in the UK proper, from delivery to the present. Work to make this 300SL as good as it is today started in 2017 with its third owner subsequently spent thousands of pounds to put right every little niggle.
We helped said previous owner with those last few jobs that any old car can need from time to time. For example, we've fitted new hardtop seals, under-bonnet insulation and a boot seal, along with replacing a leaking timing chain cover seal and cavity wax protecting the bodywork, after repairing the battery tray. More recently, we removed the dashboard to replace a compromised blower motor seal.

Few R107s can claim this car's mix of visual appeal, usability and exceptional care. It's a near one-off that's ready to wow the crowds at any car show you choose, from the local village fete to Goodwood Revival, it'll fit right in anywhere.
