The Daimler DB18 Saloon, unveiled by The Daimler Company Limited during the 1930s, introduced several noteworthy technical advancements. Its chassis, constructed with a ladder-frame design, provided a combination of robustness and adaptability. This was paired with a well-engineered suspension system, featuring coil springs at the front and semi-elliptical leaf springs at the rear, contributing to a smooth and well-balanced ride quality.
The heart of the DB18 Saloon lay in its inline-six engine, available in 2. 5 or 3. 5-liter variants. Boasting overhead valves and a hemispherical combustion chamber, this powerplant exemplified efficiency and performance. The integration of hydraulic brakes marked a significant enhancement in safety and control, in line with the vehicle's focus on driving excellence.
While the DB18 Saloon may not have been solely celebrated for its technical complexity, its meticulous integration of these technical attributes undoubtedly contributed to its reputation for delivering a rewarding driving experience during its time.
In current ownership since c. 2007, this particular DB18 Saloon is presented in the attractive combination of White with contrasting brown leather interior. ‘LAL 219’ has been kept as part of a small collection of classics and commercial vehicles used primarily for weddings, being last used in 2010. Having been stored in a dry barn for the last 13 years, the car is now showing 67, 526 miles on the odometer at the time of consignment and comes accompanied with a history file comprising a small collection of previous invoices and MOT certificates, as well as the current V5C document.
