The Ferrari 328 was introduced in 1985 as the successor to the vaunted 308 series of cars, quickly becoming a car synonymous with the late 80s. Although based on its predecessor, the 328 represented an entirely new approach to the sports car market; a softer design inspired by aerodynamics and performance. The classic mid-engined layout was retained, however the 3. 2 litre V8 was a step up from the 308 QV motor, now pushing out 270 bhp and capable of launching the 328 to 60mph in less than 6 seconds.
The 328 was on offer in GTB and GTS guise, with the latter far out-selling its fixed-top brother, mainly due to success in the US market. The car was made from 1985-1989, with over 7, 000 produced in that time. The popularity of the car was not only down to its iconic styling, but also fantastic handling and true usability that had not been seen in previous mid-engined Ferraris.
The example we are pleased to offer for sale is one of only 292 UK right hand drive examples produced and was delivered new in November, 1988 via Maranello Concessionaires in Egham, U. K. The car was specified from new in Rosso Corsa over a Pelle Crema leather interior with Bordeaux carpets and iconic Black Vinyl Roof panel.
It presents superbly and is currently showing just over 16, 800 miles from new. The car has been very well cared for during its life and enjoyed long term ownership with the previous custodian for over 22 years. The original handbooks are present and the service book is very well stamped, with the last service being completed December, 2022 where Ferrari specialists Neil Lucas carried out a full service and cambelts change. The history file also contains a large number of previous MOT certificates dating back to the early 1990s, confirming the car’s low mileage.
